1.

Sirens blaring, load-shedding.
Copters hovering, people scrambling
To bomb-shelters. A thud of bomb overhead
A little girl smiles in bunker as she looks up
At a man who pans his cell phone.
An innocence captured. An apartment bombed outside.
Mangled bodies lie strewn. Toys get splattered
In blood.

2.

Smoke smouldering here. Fire blazing there.
A child in red woolens hobbles out of home as mother runs
Ahead.
Slowing down, waiting for her child to catch up.
Chased by smoke, the child runs faster.
Holding mom’s fingers, they run down the road
To a smoky horizon; disappeared, as fresh bombs drop
Fire engulfs.

3.

Charred life stands still. Burnt buildings overlook
Forests in wild fires in front. Copters go away
A young couple cosy up in corner of deserted road.
Their lips lock. Tears drop off their eyes on earth
That shakes freshly as bombs pound afar.
