Out of the town and close to Gangpur,
Into the spaces where once paddy grew,
Under the skies touching the horizon;
Ulhas came into being not decades beyond.
I came here, friend, on an autumn day,
Sun shone all around sizzling the kash gay.
I fell in love with you, Ulhas, at that instant,
And built my home, “Geetobitan,” finding you jocund.
When the dew fell on grass every morn,
We woke up to the call of birds, unknown, at dawn.
The years have gone by just like falling feather,
In between the furry kash, where do you all wither?
I set out for an evening stroll or a saunter,
The corroded metal roads make me falter here and there.
But still the wind is as fresh as it was when I came,
The nightly train still runs in the dark like lighted frame.
So leave behind doubts and come roaming with me,
Where the scanty grass is green still and the air is free.
